The tool itself is great ... when it was working . My screen died ( failed backlight) after only 6 months and using it maybe a dozen times. The US Distributor wont support it as this seller sends direct from China and cuts them out. I have to send it to the china factory for repair shipping at my cost. I've now been trying to get an RMA and an address to send it to for a month. The seller is being rather unhelpful.
If they decide to come around I'll consider changing my star rating.
**UPDATE** Finally received my tool back and it seems to be working fine again , The seller paid for shipping both ways . 1 star off for it taking 3.5 months to get this resolved. and 1 star off for it failing in the first place.
I run a small auto repair shop specializing in VW and Audi vehicles. I use VCDS as my primary scan tool, but I needed a bidirectional scan tool to work on other makes, Subaru, GM, etc. This scan tool works great and has very advanced functions. It works to reset TAP in GM transmissions. Also it will actuate solenoids and actuators for active testing. So far it has done everything that I needed it to, besides popping the trunk on a Mercedes. Also the VIN reading function saves alot of time instead of manually entering it for every vehicle.
I like the bi-directional functionality of this scanner. This one "little" function is very necessary and greatly enhances diagnostics. Ie: If turning on/off injectors, actuating the EBCM solenoids, activating any solenoid to see if it works, talking to ABS and other modules, etc. You can not get that in a $200 code reader scan tool. If you are looking for a scan tool that does everything except reprogram an ecu/pcm then this is it. JMHO. I've had a few scan tools over the years and this is my favorite so far.
Bought unit nearly a year ago. Have used on my Nissan Titan, Toyota Prius and BMW E46 M3 with smg. Mainly bought for BMW interface and control module function testing. Solid product, haven't used all capabilities but looked for unit that would bleed hydraulic smg pump. There is a you tube video for the ds708 but this unit will too. Used real time data to find defection wheel sensor on my Titan.
Everything working fine so far. Autel software on their site was not updated properly, and spent three hours to print wirelessly to my computer. Autel tech support helped me. Tough to get through to them though.
For the price range, this tool actually performs very well indeed. I live in a country with many varied brands of cars imported from every corner of the world and this tool has covered most things very very well. Im impressed with it. I run a shop that has 6 other diagnostic scanners with some being very well known brands world wide. This Autel has coverage to rival them but at 1/4 of the price. Impressed!!!!!
Product sucks. Bought to program keys I've tried on Chevy and Lexus has options but always says error and won't do it. Worthless not worth all the money for a basic scan tool that claims it will program keys but definitely will not work
