Descripción del producto

One hundred and fifty years after the earth was ravaged by war, the two self-sustaining towers built by OmniLab continue to offer a safe haven for those who paid the hefty price to assure their family's survival. But on the surface, there are others who have survived over the years struggling to barter and trade artifacts found within the ruins of the crumbling cities in exchange for critical supplies.

When Kayla, a ruin rat skilled in computer hacking and scavenging, discovers a strange artifact known as The Aurelia Data Cube, she finds herself inadvertently caught up in a series of events that threatens the lives of the mysterious and elusive people within OmniLab.

Carl, an unorthodox negotiator with a head for business, is determined to eradicate the corruption amongst his OmniLab brethren and has no qualms about using Kayla to do it. Unfortunately, he wasn't counting on the vastness of the corruption or his own feelings for the headstrong woman who turns his life upside down.

Caught between the life she knew and a dangerous world that's claimed her as their own, Kayla learns the fearful truth behind just how far one man will go to obtain power and how far she'll go to survive.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas A Well Crafted Sci-Fi Adventure that's Creative, Imaginative and Ingenious! 26 de abril de 2014

This is a well crafted story and I absolutely enjoyed reading it from start to finish. It's a captivating and gripping read that had me engaged from the beginning. The story flows from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. There's a profusion of well illustrated scenes that really make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that's something I really look for in a good book.

The story had every element a good story should have. An exciting plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. This interesting and compelling work, as I said, had my attention from the start and there are twists and turns in this page turner that will take the reader on a very intriguing and compelling journey! Also, the writing style is uncomplicated which makes for an enjoyable read.

It's one of those stories that come along once in awhile that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I'm giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery and enjoyment for the reader!

I'd highly recommend this read to all fans of the Science Fiction & Fantasy genre. It wouldn't surprise me if I saw this on the Silver Screen. This Sci-Fi adventure is creative, imaginative and ingenious!

I'll certainly be looking forward to reading more from Jamie A. Waters in the future!

The book "The Two Towers" was my first experience with Jamie A. Waters' work. I welcomed the chance to read this futuristic, sci-fi novel when I was offered it in exchange for an honest review. Being a fan of authors such as Issac Asmov and George Orwell when I was a child, I remember being absorbed for hours about possible advances in science and future events for the human race. This book, being based 150 years in the future was quite a read and I found it right on par with my childhood memories of reading a good science fiction story.

I found the story to be very well written and engaging. If the author didn't do it themselves; whomever edited and proofread this book needs to be applauded. The arrangement of each paragraph flowed well and each chapter was very easy to read. What pleased me most about the authors writing style, was that it didn't feel stilted in language and it wasn't absurd or awkward to read. Unfortunately, I find a lot more bad writing from seasoned authors. I read the other reviews of this book and say that I must agree that this does remind me of the Hunger Games a bit; although I've never read the book and only seen the movie.

I liked the lead character Kayla. She reminded me of a 5 foot 2 inch stick of street-smart, ruin-rat dynamite, ready to explode at a moments notice. Her saucy and inquisitive demeanor in the story-line filled her out and kept the character interesting. Kayla having a back-story built in to the plot really helped as well. Her man Carl, made a great underdog at her side battling the corrupt and evil Omnilab. The other characters such as Seara and even Varidian also seemed well thought out and developed too. In my opinion, the whole story was very well put together, believable and vividly written from start to finish.

I'm really amazed that this work seems to be this authors first book here on Amazon. Bravo! This author deserves five stars all the way for a fantastic debut release. I would recommend this book to all adults that like action packed science fiction!

Science fiction writers love a dystopian future setting. But, their imaginations and craft give readers a variety of storylines to depict a life after the cozy, snuggly one enjoyed today. Author Jaime Waters takes a romantic approach in The Two Towers.

The story opens with Kayla, a ruin rat who scavenges habitats and building from the Old World. The artifacts discovered are then sold in exchange for currency. Ruin rats often find themselves the targets of traders, individuals who scavenge on the behalf of OmniLab. On this particularly day, Kayla comes face to face with Carl, a trader who manages the territory within District 12. He makes an agreement with Kayla that if she visits his base camp for a possible business relationship, she can keep the valuables that she discovered during her rummaging. She plays coy as if she hardly found a thing (though she’s hit quite the jackpot), but agrees to the meeting despite her partner Veridian’s reservations. Neither Kayla nor Carl are aware of how significant this chance meeting is for their futures.

Kayla is a no nonsense young woman in a world mired with cocky and cruel men, yet she manages to handle them all with wit, candor, and an unparalleled beauty she’s completely unaware of. Carl is a handsome, level-minded man who is determined to prove to Kayla that not all traders are untrustworthy. When working for Carl ultimately leads to her true identity, she has to choose between handling the life in the Towers with grace and finesse, or in typical Kayla fashion.

I loved the character Kayla the moment I started reading this book. She is the epitome of spunk, and has more balls than most guys I know. It is easy to see why Carl falls for her immediately upon meeting her, as well as Alec. I enjoyed the fast pace of the novel. The author gets right into the action, and things move at a nice, steady pace from there. You’ll easily finish this book in one sitting. And once again, it is very interesting to see a different perspective on what the future holds for planet Earth without conquering aliens or slobbering zombies. I highly recommend this book for all readers.

150 years after a world war destroyed the Earth, Kayla lives among the rubble, savaging the ruins for goods to sell for necessities. She works with a group of other survivors, scraping by. But, Kayla is a tough girl who hold her own. It’s a nice shift from the usual dystopian spiel where a man rides through the deserted wasteland with his trusty dog. Instead, we get beautiful, kickass, Kayla and her motorcycle.

Kayla is a “ruin rat” a, basically, free agent who teams up with other non-contractors for goods. On the other end of the spectrum we have Carl, an official trader, Kayla’s nemesis, and main competition for the dwindling supplies still left outside. He wants nothing more than to have the clever girl as a member of his scavenging team, but the official ruin traders have a bad reputation for ripping off Kayla and other ruin rats so she’s in no rush to stick around with him, even though the spark between them is undeniable.

One thing the pair has in common is the fact that neither is able to live in the OmniLab towers. The two towers were built before the war and allow several thousand select, and usually wealthy, people a world with security, food, and long lives away from the wreckage. The people within them pay a high price for memorabilia of the “outside”, which include items such as jewelry and dolls. Money is meaningless and “credits” are king.

Being a licensed Omnilab trader has given Carl some security, but it’s not enough when a hotheaded, and often violent, fellow Omnilab trader, Ramiro, comes for Kayla. To protect her, Carl convinces her, and her partner Veridian, to join his crew. But will that be enough to save Kayla from Ramiro? Are Carl’s intentions entirely pure?

The Two Towers is easy to follow and slightly different than the usual apocalyptic works. With some sexual heat, a plot for revenge, and a twist involving Kayla’s, possibly illustrious, past, there’s a lot going on in the shadows of the OmniLab towers.

I have been a scifi / fantasy book reader since I was a child, the premise of the book intrigued me enough to buy it. The big surprise was, I could not stop reading it. All the characters felt "real" the descriptions of the settings were breathtaking and the plot immediately hooked me in. Being a male I do not read romance types of books, but this story was truly epic in my opinion. I finished the book wanting more of this story, I feel this first volume is the tip of the iceberg. This is one author I am putting on my watch list. Do yourself a favor, buy it and see for yourself.
