Descripción del producto

Think about jazz musicians. They are the epitome of creativity. They become completely one with their music, expressing themselves in a gifted way that only like-minded individuals are able to understand and appreciate. Jazz music speaks to the soul and touches emotions and feelings.

How would you pay homage to a jazz musician in a stylized photo or graphic? This is exactly what Rick Henry thought about and has delivered in his new book, “Rick Henry’s Jazz Art.” He has taken 24 of the world’s most beloved jazz musicians of all time and has let their music speak to his soul. The result is a tribute to each musician in the form of a unique artistic interpretation. Each graphic is a total feast for the eyes in colors that are deep, rich and bright. There is nothing subdued here. Each graphic is as expressive as the individual musician.

Rick has also provided a concise snapshot of the personal and career highlights of each musician to accompany each graphic. He gives us selected details that are worth knowing and remembering. Each summary perfectly honors these illustrious jazz musicians.

So let the graphics in this book speak to you. And let your eyes “hear” the music.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas What a Cool Concept! Jazz Art Honoring Jazz Musicians! 28 de junio de 2016

This book is filled with exquisite original jazz-inspired photography and art. I absolutely love Rick Henry's choice of vibrant colors to complement each design. There are 24 jazz musicians featured, with highlights and facts/trivia for each. Whether you are a seasoned jazz fan or someone just learning about these musicians, you will appreciate the creative expression honoring each of the featured jazz musicians. I especially love the photo highlighting Michael Franks, showcasing a zoom-in image of single yellow dandelion in a sea of clover. I didn't know that at the age of 14 Michael bought himself a Japanese Marco Polo guitar, which came with six private lessons, and that these were the only music lessons he had in his life! Then there's the beautiful, bright star-like image for Ella Fitzgerald's page in bright red and yellow, with a refined, bling quality that suits the elegance of Ella Fitzgerald. In the trivia/facts section I learned that Ella won a total of 14 Grammy Awards in including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1967. These are just two examples from this wonderful book which I enjoy so very much!!!

This collection of artwork is beautiful. I spent a good hour upon receipt looking over Rick Henry's unique brand of art. I really enjoy his eye for the abstract. I feel he captured the essence of each musician perfectly. He did especially well with Brother Jack McDuff with a plate full of peas and tomatoes - Jack McDuff often used food on his album covers. The picture for Twin Danger is especially dark and mesmerizing. The floral image for Ella Fitzgerald is perfectly fitting. My favorite is the dark dark blue image Rick created for Miles Davis, it's smile and pure and blue.
