5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Fantastic as luggage or airline transport. 6 de junio de 2016
Por Alaska Customer - Publicado en Amazon.com
This review is for the Pelican Air 1615 case with no foam. I have owned at least 50 Pelican cases. This case retains all the traditional Pelican case attributes- strength, durability, lifetime guarantee; but at much less weight than their former methods of construction.

The airline baggage handlers have had this case on 27 USA domestic flights so far, totaling 43,500 miles, plus 4 international flights of 10,000 miles with just minor scuffs to the case, and with no damage to the contents. (I recently gave this case to a friend who often travels domestically for work, so I won't be able to track its mileage from this point forward, sorry.)

In this product Pelican has achieved the perfect balance between cutting weight and yet retaining strength and content protection. Also, the case pulls very easily when loaded to 50 pounds total weight.

USAGE TIP#1: I recommend placing a paper towel soaked in WD-40 over old baggage stickers on this case to remove the old stickers and adhesive residue. Let it soak overnight, then remove the label using an old credit card or cheap plastic scraper from a hardware/paint supply store.

USAGE TIP#2: Also I take the Pelican stickers off my cases used for airline transport, whether for domestic or international travel. I believe this reduces the odds of theft or pilferage of the case by thieves looking for high dollar electronics or other valuables.(I then tape the Pelican sticker that lists the model of the case to the inside lid of the case, which then gives me a simple reminder of the model number of that particular case.)

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas I need a good set of luggage that's waterproof 8 de agosto de 2016

Very impressed so far. I've worked with dozens of Pelican products through military service, all tough as nails, but bulky and heavy. The Pelican Air mixes the toughness of their standard cases with the realities of routine airline travel. I don't need a case that will withstand a rough trip to Bagram, Afghanistan. I need a good set of luggage that's waterproof, tough, and lightweight. The 1615 delivers.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Great Upgrade; Light and Sturdy! 11 de noviembre de 2016

Coming from the 1510 I love this upgrade! Divider is nice, easy to setup, and gave me lots of options to keep my gear snug and protected. Fits my full frame D750 and my big f2.8 lenses and then some... Easy to adjust

Pros: - lighter (obvious but it really is a big difference)
- still feels sturdy

Cons: - miss the old carrying handle on top (saves a few more ounces I guess)

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Expensive, but worth it 25 de julio de 2016

This is a well-built case, and it is significantly lighter than the same size case in the old product line. The pick'n'pluck foam can be tedious to set up, but that was expected. Past experience with Pelican has been positive. They stand by there warranty. I have a 10 year old 1650 case that they shipped new wheels for, no questions asked.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas A Smart Investment in Travel Luggage 14 de noviembre de 2016

I have always been a huge fan of Pelican. Our firm uses them to transport our office supplies in a neat, organized manner and they have held up wonderfully to the abuse of the airlines. I was very sick and tired of my regular suitcases get torn up and ripped up and so I decided to look for Pelican alternatives. The Elite Pro Luggage Series of Pelican was my first interest, but realized that the issues with those were weight (too heavy) and not as strong on sides. I saw PelicanAir and did the same thing you were doing, looking at all the reviews and here is what they told me; cases were very light (they are), they are just as strong as the originals (they are), the wheels are very sturdy and do not break (they don't),

My only concerns with this particular model is that there is not a grab handle on the top of the case which tends to be annoying when you grab it to put in the overhead bids (very minor). Overall, is you are a practical traveler and want to make a good investment that will last many years longer than regular luggage, then you are looking in the right direction. I am glad I spent the money and lots of people notice my luggage and think they look slick!
