Set in the 1960s, Tommy Jacks first day at work ends with a competing reporter's body being found on the state capitol grounds. Who murdered the reporter and why? This is not Jacks job but he cannot help himself he's a Muckraker and must find out what happened. As he ventures into this tangled web of mystery he becomes involved with an entourage of fools, charlatans and geniuses: a discredited gossip columnist, a former football star turned sportswriter, an ethics challenged lawyer, a beautiful TV reporter and a gorgeous playmate from his past.
The dead reporter worked for the paper that put Tommy's father, Ray Jacks, into prison at the height of his political career. Everything becomes personal as the evidence points to his father's enemies as being responsible for the murder. He must now confront his own past as he tries to unravel the mystery.
A story involving the newspaper business, political intrigue and young love are meshed with family history and tragic loss. Tommy Jacks a young, idealistic hero learns about himself while experiencing great joys and tremendous sadness. He also learns how to be a Muckraker.
