This Is How It Sounds
el 13 de mayo de 2015 - Publicado en Amazon.com
For better or worse, even in the age of nearly unlimited access to new music, it is rarer to find something that truly fires the synapses. I kept seeing this album on best-of lists and after reading some good things, finally gave it a try. Very glad that I did, as I've now added a new artist to my list of favorites for the first time in a couple of years. If I was to say one thing about LP1 here, it would be that this record sounds like the possibilities of what "now" music can be. It is very much a product of the present, making plenty of use of the musical gadgets and techniques that are out there now...but crucially, it is in a way that sounds and feels real and bursting with microscopic energy. Dreamy, beautiful, trancelike, catchy and ultra sexy. It's too easy to sit around and lament how music isn't as good as it used to be, but this is an album that elicits the perpendicular: that great artists make great art and that when you hear something like this, you're no longer thinking about the past, but making new memories in the present, and being inspired for the future. This one is a keeper.

Beautiful and Mesmerizing
el 15 de diciembre de 2014 - Publicado en Amazon.com
I saw this on quite a few end of year 'best of' lists and decided to give it a listen. Then I immediately bought it. Then in the space of less than 48 hours I listened to it from beginning to end five times throughout that period. I listened to this and nothing else. In fact, after hearing this I could find nothing in the rest of the 'best of' lists that even compared to the mesmerizing beauty of these hypnotic songs. Buy. Listen. Listen again. And then listen some more.

Best of 2014 - Music
el 1 de abril de 2015 - Publicado en Amazon.com
You'll either love Twigs, or you will not. This was my favorite album of 2014. Think along these lines: Kate Bush has a séance, conjures the spirit of Aalyiah, and they make an album together. Initial listens require patience, as songs start and end in very different places. The hooks though, are amazing. No bad tracks. She is a true talent, and I can't wait to hear where that talent leads her.
Electro rhythm sexy art

I love fka twigs. She's sexy and artful. After re-listening to this album recently, I realized that there is some fierceness/anger in this album, which I like. For example in Numbers: "Tonight, I've got a question for you. Tonight, do you want live or die?" Great line and delivery. Don't cross her, haha! Single Two Weeks is a standout, but it's hard to say that because all the songs are really good. If I had to, I guess the last half of the album is my favorite.

When I first heard her music, I was fascinated by the videos she'd produced, and I thought the music was just ok. Well, since I purchased this CD, it has not left my car. Hearing this disc in surround sound, and very loud, really allowed me to appreciate it fully. It's on a constant loop, and the full impact of it has me mesmerized. This young woman is SO amazing! Which seems so strange to me, that I can relate to someone who is almost 1/2 my age. Anyway, I'm about to buy EP2, and I've been hunting for a copy of her self-produced, and very elusive; EP1. If I were to make an attempt to describe her sound, it would probably go something like; if Bjork and Janet Jackson did a string of duets, then allowed Timbaland, Photek and then have Tricky and Robert Smith mix the final product, you would have something close to LP1, but not quite. Twigs is definitely in a league of her own and she's got so much to say. I really look forward to watching (and listening) to her grow as an artist.
