Descripción del producto

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Ella and Micha series comes a powerful story of love, healing, and impossible choices . . .
Nova Reed used to have dreams-of becoming a famous drummer, of marrying her true love. But all of that was taken away in an instant. Now she's getting by as best she can, though sometimes that means doing things the old Nova would never do. Things that are slowly eating away at her spirit. Every day blends into the next . . . until she meets Quinton Carter. His intense, honey brown eyes instantly draw her in, and he looks just about as broken as she feels inside.
Quinton once got a second chance at life-but he doesn't want it. The tattoos on his arm are a constant reminder of what he's done, what he's lost. He's sworn to never allow happiness into his life . . . but then beautiful, sweet Nova makes him smile. He knows he's too damaged to get close to her, yet she's the only one who can make him feel alive again. Quinton will have to decide: does he deserve to start over? Or should he pay for his past forever?

It will be really hard for me to express what makes this book so amazing without giving any spoilers away. I will say it is one of the most emotionally powerful and honest books I have read in a long time. That also means, it is not the easiest book to read. There is no white knight and no easy fixes. Jessica clearly did her research when writing this book. I have read everything that I know of that Jessica has written and in all honesty, I think this is her best work. I should mention that this is Nova book one, so do not expect everything to be tied up in a pretty bow at the end of the story. That being said, the story is not all left open and hanging. Some major decisions were made and some important healing took place. It is not half a book. It is a whole story with simply more to come. It should be noted : This book deals heavily with the aftermath of suicide, anxiety, and with drug use and addiction.

behind on my reviews, I read this about a month ago . Here's my review .

If you're not into stories with broken characters , heavy subject matter , including death , suicide , and drugs , then i suggest you do not read this . Personally going into this book I was expecting a sweet ending to their story . Their is simply no happily ever after . The romance aspect is there , but these two souls are too painfully broken to find comfort in each other .

In the Prologue of this book , Tragedy strikes Nova and Quinton . They both suffer great losses , the loves of their lives . Nova is left asking why ? Quinton is left asking why not me ? She is suffering through the grief of losing her boyfriend to a suicide and he is suffering through the guilt of being the driver the night his girlfriend was killed . After reading the Prologue I was imagining the typical "made for each other" type of story . They find each other , trust and find comfort in each other . No . they don't .

Nova is a 19 year old college student . Beautiful girl , when she should be enjoying her college years she is griefing the loss of her late boyfriend Landen . Nova finds comfort and friendship in Quinton but isn't the same on his side of the story .

One thing that bothered me was the drug use of Marijuana . I understand the need to introduce the "beginner drug" but it was overdone . To make that statement when cannabis is legalized in many countries and some locations in this country for medical reasons .

otherall, this is an amaIng story . not a love story but instead a story of a friendship between two extremely broken people !

Jessica Sorensen I feel like I have cheated you, there is no way this book is worth only 99 cents. This book is beyond 5stars!!!!! This books tops both Ella and Micah and Callie and Kaydens stories. It is also darker than both those series. It is a darkness that is heart wrenching, yet moving. The dual POVs are in sync with one another. Nova starts out as this weak heroine who appears to have no one that can help her; if anything the characters around her break her down even more. Then there is Quinton, like the saying goes you can't help people who don't want to help themselves and unfortunately he is one of those people. But his character has a purpose that serves beyond this first book. Although he is damaged and unreachable emotionally, he is the catalyst for Nova's self transformation. I need to Xanax to help me through the wait until the next book. This book has definitely earned itself a spot in one of my top five favorite books/series. Highly recommend this book
4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Good book, but the author went overboard on the 'evils' of Marijuana in my opinion. 15 de agosto de 2016

I have been wanting to read this series for a while, but at $6.99 I was just too cheep to take the plunge. I was in a major book slump and could not find anything that looked good. I was also in the mood for something dark and depressing, so I fianlly broke down and paid the big bucks for this book.

I do not regret the decision. I enjoyed the book. It was well written, though there were some editing flaws and story line mistakes. Small things I would totally over look in a $2.99 book, but for $6.99 I expect tighter editing. I thought the characters were well developed and easy to care about. There is not much happiness in this first book, but since I know there are two more to read, I read it with the assumption that things will work out and in the end and Nova and Quinton will get their HEA. I guess I will just have to keep reading to find out.

The one thing that bugged me during this book was the way that Marijuana was portrayed as a hard core drug. All of the characters in this book have major issues and they use drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and sex as unhealthy ways to deal with them. It annoyed me that only the Marijuana use was looked at as being really destructive, and it was portrayed worse than it actually is. Quinton had no problem with Nova drinking and doing shots, but he thought she was too good to smoke pot. Alcohol is much more addictive and destructive than Marijuana.

At one point one character tells another that "she is just coming down and it will get worse before it gets better" That is not how pot works. There is no 'come down' or 'crash' or anything like that, it just fades way and you are either just not high anymore, or your asleep. When a character takes a hit for the first time it is compared to stepping of a cliff and she is not sure if she will have the strength or desire to get back out again. Weed is not like Meth or Heroin. It is not physically addictive and you certainly are not going to be hooked after the first time.

I am in no way trying to defend the actions of the characters in this book. They are all train wreaks waiting to happen. They smoke way too much weed are do it for very self destructive reasons. They obviously all need help. It just bugged me that Nova was portrayed at almost throwing everything away for the drug life and after she gets her act together, she acts like even being around or smelling pot, could pull her back into that destructive place. Smoking a bit of weed over one summer is not going to leave a person having long term struggles with it. I just felt like the author demonized weed a bit too much and portrayed it as worse than it is.

I must say though I have enjoyed the author's previous work Breaking Nova was by far the best. I have already pre-ordered the other two books in the series. I knew going in that this was not a stand alone novel and was pretty worried about how the first book would end since the next book will not be released until next year. I was very pleased with the ending.
This is not a feel-good romantic romp but a heartbreaking and touching story of two people who have experienced devastating losses.
I was biting my nails waiting for Nova to watch the video clip left by her boyfriend before he ended his life and I was so relieved at her reaction and the direction it took the story.
The emotions and experiences were raw and real. The drug use didn't bother me and was portrayed in a realistic manner. Great read!
