Descripción del producto
Personal essays culled from ten years of holiday writing. A combination of nostalgia, whimsy, and sentimentality, wrapped bubbles and served with coffee.
Melissa A. Bartell, the Bathtub Mermaid, published her first book at the age of five. It was a limited-edition book of poetry, hand-written by the author herself and mimeographed (yes, she's that old) by her loving mother. More recently, she has been slinging words as a corporate blogger and freelance copy editor. She served as co-editor-in-chief of the ezine All Things Girl (currently on hiatus), and is currently running her personal blog (MissMeliss.com), her book review blog (Bibliotica.com) and her podcast (BathtubMermaid.com). She is also a voice actor and improvisational comedian, and collects hats and rescue dogs. Melissa likes red wine, dark chocolate, and frou-frou coffee. She lives near Dallas, TX with her husband and their pack of four mutts, plus a foster-dog.

Dive in and don't spare the bubble bath...
el 1 de enero de 2016 - Publicado en Amazon.com
If you're looking for a sticky-sweet Hallmark Very Special Christmas, this is not the book for you. However if you are looking for the kinds of experiences, thoughts, and feelings that are familiar to us all at this time of the year do not pass up this collection of essays by Melissa Bartell. Ranging from the kind of Proustian free association triggered by smells and objects, through the types of holiday "adventures" large and small that will leave you laughing and saying "Right! I've been there!", this (too) short collection taps into the Real Life version of Christmas, and isn't that where we all live at the end of the day?? I'm not a warm-and-fuzzy kinda reader so I approached Tales from the (Holiday) Tub with some trepidation... which did not survive the first paragraph. Melissa's easy way with words will draw you in and keep you with her through every page, and you'll be happy if you do. It's a great place to be.

Well written and fun

I'm not much of a Christmas person- I'm more of a Halloween gal- but I’ve been a fan of this author for nearly a year so when I saw that she had a book out I knew that it would be worth reading. I was right. The essays in this collection are cute, sometimes touching, and enjoyable to read. The contents and layout is well done so you can skip around and read the essays in whatever order you see fit and then return to your favorites when you have a few minutes and need a little dose of Christmas spirit. Worth picking up, even though the holiday has just passed.
