Descripción del producto

Volume 1 of The Hacker Digest takes you back to the very beginning of 2600 Magazine. In those first days back in 1984, the publication sought to find a footing, both in the publishing and hacking worlds. It didn't take too long. The first letters to the editor came in almost immediately. Articles ranged from the military computer network to the breakup of the Bell System. It was a fascinating time to start putting out a journal on technology because the revolution was just about to begin. The format at the time was that of a monthly newsletter: three sheets of paper with loose-leaf holes punched in them for the convenience of readers. Here, it's reformatted into an actual book, complete with explanations of the covers and various other features. Every character has been proofread (typos have been preserved) and many of the articles have stood the test of time and are quite applicable today. Most every telephone number printed, however, has likely changed.

I purchased it few weeks ago and just finished reading. It's conglomerate of various issues of Hacker's digest published in 80's and 90's. I enjoyed reading to see, how phreakers/hackers were smart enough to break or exploit security holes. They were always a step ahead of the technocrats. This book is strongly recommended to those who have interest to know about hacking and security breaches.

This is a fascinating look at hacker culture right at the start of the Internet. I'm about 20% of the way through and really enjoying reading about phone phreaking and the first hacking of arpanet (which eventually became the Internet).

The digitisation has been very well done. If hacking culture history interests you, you will enjoy this.

I have paid for their lifetime subscription on their site and sent them repeated reminders on email. However I did not receive any response from them.

I even left them a message on twitter. No Response !!! I sent mails to

Still no reply !!!! I think i have lost my 260$ :(

Followed up with them and still did not receive my subscription yet !!! As per them Amazon has a different method and hence you can receive subscription on time.
Never ever buy from them directly on their site, Else you are spent chasing and following up and receiving no responses. I have lost my 260 $ and I will take this case to International Consumer Forum.

Do not lose your money in purchasing directly from their site !!!!

This eBook combines the first year of 2600 (back when it was more a newsletter than a magazine). Obviously the technical stuff is 99% outdated, but this is a good read for a historical perspective on hacker culture.

For anyone that's been curious about the first couple of years in 2600's publishing history, this is the way to go! Inexpensive, small download, loaded with hacking history (some of which is still relevant today)!
